Small to medium office market still buoyant in Brum – Siddall Jones
The Birmingham office market is proving resilient, especially in the sub-3,000 sq ft sector, according to commercial property agents Siddall Jones.
Managing director Ed Siddall-Jones said: “We have witnessed a strong start to office leasing in 2021, with the company completing a number of lettings under 3,000 sq ft.”
Recruitment consultants Boardrm Ltd have taken 2,251 sq ft on a three year term at Regent Place in the Jewellery Quarter at £31,500 a year, equating to £14 per square foot.
Boardrm is one of the UK’s fastest growing recruitment sites, specialising in connecting professionals to job opportunities. Launched in August 2017, it is run by managing director Philip Birch and sales and marketing director Tim Clarkson.
Siddall Jones acted for an overseas investor they advised on the purchase in 2016.
Mr Siddall-Jones said: “Attitudes to offices have no doubt changed but we believe strongly the market will continue to transact at high levels during the course of the year.
“Being social animals, I anticipate most people working from home are looking forward to a return to the office and while flexible working is no doubt going to become commonplace, this will naturally have an impact on the market, as decision markers reassess how much space they require and transact accordingly.”
This latest deal follows the naming of Siddall Jones as Most Active Agent in the West Midlands in 2020 in the Radius Data Exchange survey produced in conjunction with EG, the commercial property market magazine.
Siddall Jones, which has offices in Birmingham and Dudley, was launched by Ed Siddall-Jones in 2012 and has grown steadily from one office to two and from one member of staff to six.
