Jewellery Quarter retains its sparkle for ambitious businesses
Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter is as popular as ever with growing businesses, as Siddall Jones’ latest letting proves.
The commercial property agents have let the ground floor office at 15a The Orb, Albion Street, in the Jewellery Quarter to bespoke office furniture designers and manufacturers Ob&b Ltd.
The company has a manufacturing centre in Cradley Heath and also a London showroom in Clerkenwell.
The expansion into Albion Street brings Ob&b back close to Warstone Lane where the company had its first offices when it was founded over 20 years ago by husband and wife team Richard and Dinah Berry who met while at university.
The move has created three news jobs immediately, including a new sales role for an account executive tasked with building the company’s presence in the north of England.
Director Richard Berry said their decision to take on more space in the Jewellery Quarter was driven by rising sales in the last quarter.
“After what was a difficult 2020 for us and many businesses, we have just had our busiest three months in the last five years, and this has given us the confidence to push forward.
“We chose the Jewellery Quarter for our third office and showroom as it is becoming an increasingly vibrant business area popular with architects and designers.
“As people start to return to the office, they are going to be re-evaluating office space and how they use it and we see this as a major opportunity for Ob&b Ltd.”
The 1,000 sq ft Birmingham office and showroom has been let on behalf of a private investor on a three year lease at £14,000 per annum.
Ed Siddall-Jones, managing director of Siddall Jones, said: “The Jewellery Quarter continues to be a hive of activity and we have witnessed an uptake both in office enquiries and completions as we emerge from lockdown.
“Ob&b Ltd are keen to position themselves at the heart of this thriving commercial and industrial area.”
The landlord was advised by RLK Solicitors and Bulleys acted for the tenants.
Siddall Jones, which has offices in Birmingham and Dudley, was launched by Ed Siddall-Jones in 2012 and has grown steadily from one office to two and from one member of staff to six.
